The Key to...

The Key to...
my heart
life
happiness
peace
success
my dangle

My dangle? Yes. As in an earring beaded dangle.

True story: While sitting at my bench working the other day I was listening to the sound of silence. Thoughts were dancing in and out of my head - a variety of key thoughts.

Maybe it's just my good old imagination working, but the next thing I knew I had created an interchangeable earring wire that resembled an old key. I examined it as if it was from outer space or something. The more I looked at it, the more I fell in love with my new Key design!

And that's the honest truth.

Happy Valentines Day ♥

p.s. the Key pair above is Oxidized Copper, but these are also available in Sterling Silver, 14k Gold Filled & Brass

What's new with you?

Where on earth does time go? Last week flew by so fast I didn't have time to blink! I have several more vacation blogs yet to post with some fun and interesting pictures, but since my schedule is kind of wonky this week with appointments and studio time, I'll have to post one later in the week.

In the meantime, thought I would share a few of my new creations that are now in my shop. Above are my Kurly Kites. I really love how they turned out and just like my Go Fly A Kite ear wires, they wear great! Oh and they'll be available in all metals that I offer, as are most of my handmade findings.

My new Swirly Squovals are not only fun to wear, but they are quite lovely as well - if I don't say so myself :) These are interchangeable so you can add your own charms, beaded creations, etc., or wear as is. Also coming soon in all metals.

Okay, yes. These are jump rings - nothing new of course. However, they ARE new to my shop! I've been wanting to make them for months and have FINally done so. More sizes/gauges will be added soon. Currently available in Copper & Sterling - soon to be added in 14k Gold Filled.

Well, that is it for now. I have my ortho appointment in about an hour, so I need to bust'a move here. Tomorrow morning I have my dermo appointment. Fun times I tell ya! ;)

So what's new with you?

Go ahead and giggle
over my new fun & funky Wiggles!
Looks a bit like a wave,
or maybe even a squiggle,
add a little fun to your day

My new Wiggle Series Earrings! These came to mind one day while working and I just had to roll with it. The day after I listed my first Wiggle, it sold. I must admit that I was rather excited about that!

I have a few in my shop, but there will be more Wiggles on the way as I create them. There will be a variety of Wiggles in Sterling Silver, 14k Gold Filled and Copper: long, short, interchangeable, funky, fun and well, basically a variety of designs.

You can find more of my Wiggles and other handcrafted metalwork earrings, supplies and findings in my shop.

Have wiggle good day!

Short & Sweet

My oh my. The other day I came across this adorable little shop and just had to ask if I could blog about them! So, here I am to share Charlie's Unique & Fun Jewelry with all my friends. You may fall instantly in love as I did.

I know that normally I go into all sorts of details, but this time I'm going to make it short and sweet. Get it? Short... and sweet? (points up at sweet 'little' cake)

In Charlie's shop, you can find handmade earrings, necklaces, pins, etc., made from teeny tiny miniature beads/charms from food to every day items. I checked out the sold items - wow, so many cute things!

This cute cupcake ring is so realistic (as are all the pieces) that I would probably want to take a bite of it while wearing it... or maybe just a lick or two. It was so hard to choose which pictures to put in this blog and I completely forgot to insert a pic of the Ouija Board Pendant Necklace, but you can find it, along with a big variety of other miniature pieces, in Charlie's shop.

That's it. My short and sweet little blog feature has come to a close. Now go and check out this adorable little shop and have fun!

Happy Miniature Monday!

All Fired Up

I came across a very cool and unique Etsy shop the other day when I was looking for glass items to put in a Treasury I was working on. I knew I had to blog about it, so I contacted Lisa Rippee, the owner/creator of Cloud Eleven. I’m glad I did as I believe I’ve made a new friend.

I’m a firm believer that challenges and events change the course of your direction in life (I speak from experience). A stressful job as a juvenile intake and assessment specialist took up most of Lisa’s time. I can only imagine her stress! Long hours and overnight shifts isolated her from friends and family. Then one day in March of 2005 Lisa picked up a torch. Hot glass became her therapy, obsession, meditation, passion, and the perfect vehicle for her creative expression. Who needs a therapist when you have a torch!

Lisa has a studio in her home, in Kansas City metropolitan area (on the Kansas side). Her home is small & colorful, and some describe it as eccentric (I would love to see it!). She enjoys listening to music while creating, but in the beginning she only listened to instrumental Jazz “while learning the rhythm of the glass dance” (how poetic!). The Beatles, Zepplin and Mary J. Blige are in her CD player right now. Right on!

When asked what inspires her, this is what Lisa had to say: “Anything that elicits a strong emotional response would probably be the short answer. Everyday moments that make me smile or laugh usually find their way into my creations. The social issues that I’m passionate about show themselves as well. My muse is very in tune with my moods."

Lisa’s creations are fun, amazing and full of life. There is a big variety as well: Wine Stoppers, Vessels, Magnets, Focal Beads, Sculptural Glass Vessels and more. I especially love the blown-out mouth vessels as they are so realistic (many have uvulas!) In fact, I bought the Make Me Smile vessel (the one at the top of this post) and can hardly wait until he arrives!

Oh! Lisa eventually left the high stress job. Her torch therapy led her to a part-time job at a local stained glass shop called Bearden’s Stained Glass and eventually a shop on Etsy. How did she come up with her Etsy buisness name? When she first started flame working, every time she turned around it was 1:11, 11:11, etc. So, she figured she was on the right track of making her dream come true and since hot glass had her “beyond cloud nine”, she simply had to name her business Cloud Eleven.

Just goes to show that when you get all fired up about life’s challenges, you can turn them around into something spectacular!

Happy day everyone!

P.S. Lisa sees dead people. I do too, but I’m not telling anyone ;)

Interpretation

Art is in the eye of the beholder.

I started out with Argentium Sterling Silver to make a square pendant and then it was as if something inside me took over.

I continued on with my little creation while wondering how it was going to turn out. I shaped and soldered, hammered and polished. Alas it was complete! With the bail placed off to the side I felt that I made a fun and unique piece of art that will sure to draw attention.

Okay, so some people may look at this pendant and see nothing more than just a square, circle and 2 squiggly lines. Maybe some will glance and think "what the heck is that suppose to be?!" Mark (my hubby) said it looks like a little person. Who knows... others may actually see an artistic creation. Me? I see many things, but then again, that's not too unusual for me ;)

If you would like to see other photos and details of my Interpretation pendant, feel free to visit my shop.

Happy day to you!
