It's just little ol' me

Sometimes I say to myself: "you know Rocki, you really need to start blogging again" and then there's times that I actually answer myself - but we won't go there.

Since my studio work is done for the day I thought what better time to blog than now.  You know what the say, there's no time like the present.  But what to blog about?  Sometimes I wonder if what I have to say is even all that interesting to others, plus I'm definitely not a professional blogger.  Guess since it's my blog I can talk about whatever floats my boat... oh I love boating!  Whenever we visit my brother in Florida, who is on his way back home to AZ tomorrow, we would go boating all the time and... oops... I pitched, as my hubby likes to call it.

I know!  I'll just be me.  Scary thought, but I'm going with it.  As once before, I'll be blogging about anything that enters my little brain - from my humble little life to infinity and beyond!  Oh and I don't blog just about my work because there's much more to life than work.  I don't live the high life, but it's an enjoyable one that I would be happy to share with you.

Peace and Happiness,
Rocki

p.s. Yes, that is me up there with my Dad, who is going on 71 years young and could out dance any one of us!

Coming Soon: Handmade Silver Filled Jewelry Supplies!

If you're a fan of Sterling Silver, but do not like the continued rising costs - I'm right there with you and am doing something about that in my jewelry supply shops.

In the next few weeks I will be creating 1/10 Silver Filled wire findings, handmade to order by me of course. Consisting of precious metal (sterling or fine silver) it is electroplated (bonded) onto a base metal (my supplier uses red brass). So that is a 10% silver thickness - a very nice comparison to 1/20, which is only 5%. This metal is bright and shiny and will not chip off like Silver Plated.

After researching and speaking with my supplier, I decided to move forward and add this respected metal to my shop. No, I'm not doing away with my precious metals. I just wanted to be able to offer most of my handmade metalwork in more of an affordable price point.

Feel free to hop on over to my shop now to see my handmade work and/or return in a couple weeks to see the Silver Filled findings.

Happy Friday! Peace, Rocki

Positively I can!

We all do it from time to time. You know, let negative thoughts take us over. When that happens, take a deep long breath, exhale slowly, smile and simply tell yourself:

May your days be filled with happy POSITIVE thoughts of all the things you CAN do!

Peace to you,

Rocki

Digital Photography

I'm constantly trying to improve on photo taking of my metalwork - not my most favorite task as I'm no photographer by any means. Even though I've come a LONG way since the beginning, I really want my photos to pop!

Well, luck be a lady as hubby found an eight week class at our local recreation center. Because my spare time during the day is very limited, due to my full studio schedule, this beneficial class fits right in as it is only 1 night per week. Perfect! Only requirement is you must be 16 years of age (um, I just squeaked by that one), bring your own camera and owner's manual. They'll be covering the basic camera functions, lighting techniques in various situations, color balance and much more. I registered for it and can hardly wait!

If this is something that interests you and you're in Arizona, here's the scoop:

Course: #62144 - Intro Digital Photography Class
Fee: $81 Res/ $88 Non-Res
When: March 24th, 6pm-8pm, Thursdays (8 classes total)
Instructor: John Keedy
Location: Rio Vista Recreation Center (101 & Thunderbird, Peoria)
Phone: 623-773-7137

If this is out of your area, contact your city recreation services and/or community colleges.

Forceps... Scalpel... Gauze...

Symptoms: heart flips and flutters when that special someone walks into the room, when you hear their voice or speak their name.

Remedy: My Hammered Dancing Heart Earrings.

Black and White Wishbone Earrings. These are so hot in person! I'm creating these in several styles, metals and finishes, along with many other new pieces in my artisan metal shop - plus much more on the way.
