Peace Mends All

Peace Sign Duck Tape

So much to blog about...like my fabulous vacation for starters, but after returning home I ended up sick and have been on the slow side.  I've been healing myself as usual and now on the mend.

Speaking of mending... Mark surprised me with this awesome peace sign Duck Tape!  I came across it on Facebook and he knows how much I love peace signs, especially the meaning behind it.  Well yesterday he came home with a surprise package.  I LOVE surprises!

I think I'll take my peace tape with me wherever I go and when I see someone or something that needs mending, I'll give them a piece of my peace.

76 Classic - Groovy!

Retro Clippers!
Mark loves his #2 buzz cut and has worn that style for years.  As in MANY years.  In the beginning, he would have his hair done at the barber or salon.  Then he got a wild hair and said "honey, you can cut my hair and we'll save money!"  Um. Ok, I said I would give it a go.

MANY years later and I'm still cutting his hair. Every once in a while he would go have it done either because my wrists were acting up, no time or because he wanted that real close #2 cut. All the clippers we've gone through (a variety of them) had plastic #2 blades, which do not cut as close as a metal blade. So, Mark started researching metal blades and clippers.

Groovy baby, groovy!
Let me say here that Mark is the KING of research.  There isn't anything that he purchases, etc. without checking it out from top to bottom and inside out.  I actually don't mind this because I know he's trying to find the best deal - whether it is cost, functionality or whatever.  The only thing is when he says "hey hon, I want to show you something" and then plops a folder full of papers down, I know somethings up.

So last week he came home from work and said "hey hon, you know how I've been researching..." and then said he got something for me, well actually us.  I opened it up and it was the Oster 76 Classic Clippers, with a metal #2!  He was happy because of the metal #2 and knew that I would just LOVE the retro look of it - my style. Right on honey!

The clippers rock big time!  It has a bit more weight than our other clippers, but oh so smooth, quick and cuts a beautiful #2 without hassle.  Mark the Research King rocks!

Peace,

Papa's Got A Brand New Bag

Oh yes, I remember that one Nora. One of many James Brown's songs that I love. Speaking of bags...

So the other day I came upon Nora's Etsy shop: mia baggali bags and art wear and fell in love with her boho hippie bags - just my style! The one above is my favorite... no, wait... it's the one below. Scratch that. I haven't decided which is my favorite yet!

Nora makes all of her own art wear. Where does her inspiration come from? Here is a quote from her shop:

"Many of these items begin their inception straight from the isles of vintage and used clothing stores. New fabric doesn't always do it for me. It's got to be old and tell a story. I never know what I'll find or how I'll transform it. Each creation is my adventure from start to finish!"

I encourage you to read her entire Profile - it is a good read!

Nora also makes a variety of head wear, like the very cool one above made from vintage jeans.

For the more girly girls, there is this very cute layered tote above. She also makes some pretty cool Scroogies. Scroogies? Yes. Scroogies.

How about a little vintage? Yep. She has that too. Like the adorable very vintage crocheted evening bag above and a variety of other vintage household items.

Going through Nora's etsy shop is a little like going back in time for me. In fact, after reading the following from her Shop Announcement, it took me WAY back: "Much of my inspiration comes from that surreal time when bona fide bell bottoms were ragged, dirty, faded, and torn from years of wear...not from The Gap!"

I wore bona fide bell bottoms and proud of it. The bigger the bell the better. I loved hearing the swishing sound while walking. Drove my Dad nuts. We won't even talk about hip-huggers.

Peace, love, happiness - and boho bags,

Groovy Baby!

I'm rather late with pictures, but better late than never, right? Well, in short here are a just a few from Christmas day with my family.

Above is me and my buddy/son, Jason. Yes, for those of you who do not know, I'm in braces :) Oh and the outfit? Well, you can ask just about anybody I pretty much dress like that all the time (minus the flower headband).

The love of my life, best friend and hubby dressed as much as he could for our Groovy Retro Christmas. Oh, guess that would help to mention. Each year, whoever is hosting the holiday selects a theme of their choice and we all pitch in from there. This year it was at Chris's house, my youngest brother, but it was my theme and I helped them with it. So, we had a late 60's theme. What else would it be? ;)

Unfortunately, my oldest son Jeremy couldn't make it home this year, but next year he will for sure. Above is me, Mark, Jason and Lauren (Jason's long time girlfriend).

We had a lot of fun, played games, did the gift exchange and had a LOT of AWEsome food!

Laura looked pretty groovy in her outfit I must say. Oh, that was one of the requirements, but for those who did not dress up in one way or another received groovy love beads to wear.

Well, that's about it for now. Unfortunately I won't be blogging too much right now due to a very busy schedule, again.

A little late, but Happy New Year everyone!

Rocki's Supplies!

I really hoped that I was going to be able to visit your blogs this past weekend, but we spent an enjoyable day with Danny & Margi on Saturday and then Sunday we... WOW - where DID Sunday go?!

Anyway, I PROMISE to visit your blogs tomorrow! As for today, I want to introduce you to my new supply shop: Rocki's Supplies. Yep, finally got it up and running and have had 2 sales so far from this shop! I'm still adding new items daily and have much more to list, but don't want to list it all at one time as you know.

What can you find in my new shop? All handcrafted metalwork made by me, such as:

clasps (several styles: hearts, hooks, wrapped & more)
earwires (big variety)
connectors (links, flowers, hearts & more)
PLUS my signature Elfin Earwires
and more to come!

I can honestly say that I truly love creating with metal. I find it so relaxing and calming actually. Oh I still love my rocks n beads, but there is also room for fire n metal. :)

Lots to do today, but then again Monday's are always quite busy, aren't they? So I'm off to the post office now as one of my orders was from an international customer and then I need to get back to work: house chores, studio, etc.

Thank you all for being patient with me. See you soon!
