Raw Almond Yogurt - by Nourish

1 cup almonds
Here is a simple vegan and gluten-free Raw Almond Yogurt recipe by Nourish, my favorite little restaurant that has a delicious variety of fresh food for us folks with food allergies (a Celiac's favorite place to eat!) and their menu is even color coded for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegans, vegetarians and a variety of food allergies.  Wait, back to the recipe...

1 cup fresh water
This healthy recipe has 3 simple fresh ingredients - almonds, water and lemon.  You can add toppings of your choice of course.
1/2 fresh squeezed lemon
If you would like to make this fresh and easy recipe, hop on over here for the directions - you'll love it!

Oh and if you live in Arizona or plan to visit, make sure to stop by and have a tasty dish at Nourish, you won't regret it!

Valentine's Day Water Heart!

I was brushing my teeth this morning, looked down and there was a water shaped heart!  I always see shapes in water drops...well, that's another story in itself.  Anyway, so I grabbed my Droid and snapped a pic before it went away. What makes this even more exciting (yes, water drops excite me) is what is today people?  VALENTINE'S DAY!

Okay, time to hit the studio, but just had to share this first.

Awesome Florida Bird...

These pictures are from our Florida trip last December. We visited again just this past August and I took more pictures. I have many cool shots that I would like to post - when I have time.

Anyway, just a real quickie here... I took these pictures when we were boating through the channel where my brother lives. I'm no photographer by any means. I took the above pic and then a couple moments later clicked again...

and got this AWESOME shot! It may be just me, but I really love how this picture came out- so cool!

Have great day!
Peace,

Taking the day off!

There are perks to owning and running your own business:

- don't have to wear nylons (yuck!)
- can work in my pj's, house robe, shorts & tank or sun dress - even in the nude (if I wanted to)
- don't have to clock in and out
- can eat & drink at my work station
- don't have to worry if I'm running late
- can take breaks whenever and as often as I like
- lunch can last for hours
- can play any type of music I want without hearing complaints
- can take the day off whenever I want - like TODAY!

Yep. I'm taking the day off!! I worked extra hard this week in order to make this happen. I guess that's one of the downfalls of owning & running your own business - if you're not there, nothing gets done. As long as you plan it right, it will work out.

My brother Chris is taking us & Jeremy to Lake Pleasant today on his boat. I'm looking forward to soaking up the sun, feeling the water spraying on my face and watching Jeremy zipping along the lake in the big water tube!

I'll be back Monday with a very cool spotlight on a fellow blogger buddy & Etsian :)

Enjoy your weekend and remember to smile!

Bald is BEAUtiful!

Saturday we had our boat trip as planned with my brother Chris, nephew Christopher and Danny & Margi. Danny had his first Chemo treatment the first of this month and was pretty sick for the first week or so, but he's feeling pretty good right now. So we were very happy he was able to make this day trip. He has another treatment this coming Thursday and I'll be with him then, so our next adventure will be in the next couple weeks or when he's up to it.

Mark had decided that he was going to shave his head and facial hair once Danny started losing his, but didn't want Danny to know. Well, it started happening over the past week. So, Friday night we shaved everything off to surprise Danny. It was pretty scary at first because I was afraid of cutting his scalp, but no emergency trip was necessary - not even a band-aid! I have to admit that it was rather weird and creepy at first because his head reminded me of a newborn baby bird - it wasn't pretty, but it's sort of growing on me. He may let it grow out a little bit, but no longer than a number 1 - which is basically stubble.

Anyway, Saturday morning Danny & Margi were quite surprised to see Mark's baby butt smooth head (well, felt more like 300 grit sand paper). Danny had a feeling Mark would do this and he really likes Mark's new doo - or lack of one rather. Danny has a wonderful spirit, great sense of humor and is an inspiration to us all.

Danny was diagnosed last month with Stage 4 Lung Cancer that has already spread to his lymph nodes, is wheelchair bound and has no use of his legs, but managed quite well transfering from the wheelchair to the boat, from the boat to the tube and into the water. He even drove the boat for a while and that totally made his day! He rocks.

I really enjoyed the day. It was nice and peaceful, great family times and very relaxing. Even though we hit 115 degrees on Saturday, we made sure to wear plenty of sunblock and hats. So being dumped into the water via the tube was welcomed with open arms.

Yep, that's me in the tube. Had a total blast. We can hardly wait to do it again!

If you're interested in seeing some of the pics from our boat trip, they are in my MySpace pics section under Lake Pleasant Boat Trip.

Peace & love,
